Project background

Unmasked was an anonymous mental health app for college students that was started at Dartmouth College as a student-led initiative to supplement the existing (but lacking) campus mental health resources. By 2020, Unmasked had expanded to 16 colleges, but growth revealed pain points and evolving user needs. I joined the team as a part-time contractor for a design overhaul.

Post threading & commenting

One of my UX focus areas was posting - particularly leaving comments and replying in threads. To facilitate ongoing conversations, I took inspiration from Reddit and connected the replies under each "parent" comment.

Web app research & mockups

I created mockups of a web app version of Unmasked and used Maze to conduct usability and A/B testing.

Filtering the home feed

I worked on this filter page that enables users to quickly and continuously add filters. Suggested tags turn into auto-populated search results as the user types.

Updated style guide

Finally, I helped Mira develop the new style guide and build on the current soothing nature-themed branding. We created both dark and light mode UI elements.
